Abstract

Taman Bhinneka Surabaya is a diversity-based educational tourism destination that presents miniatures of traditional houses and places of worship from various regions in Indonesia as a means of multicultural learning. To support this educational function, interpretive media plays a crucial role in conveying cultural values, tolerance, and diversity to visitors. This study aims to analyze the development of interpretive media at Taman Bhinneka Surabaya, including media form, information content, message presentation, and its development in supporting the park's function as an educational public space based on culture and diversity. (UNESCO, 2020). This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a single case study approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of park managers and visitors selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using triangulation of sources and techniques to maintain data validity (Silverman, 2016). The research results show that the interpretation media at Bhinneka Park in Surabaya consist of personal and non-personal interpretation media. Personal interpretation media is implemented through tour guides, while non-personal interpretation media include information boards, signage, banners, and supporting digital media. Interpretive media helps visitors understand Indonesia's cultural diversity and supports the park's function as a non-formal learning space based on diversity  (Wearing & Neil, 2009). The research results show that the interpretation media at Bhinneka Park in Surabaya consist of personal and non-personal interpretation media. Personal interpretation media is implemented through tour guides, while non-personal interpretation media include information boards, signage, banners, and supporting digital media. Interpretive media helps visitors understand Indonesia's cultural diversity and supports the park's function as a non-formal learning space based on diversity (Ballantyne et al., 2011).
