Transitioning from entertainment-based tourism to a conservation-focused, educational tourism model, WKNP aims to enhance its image as a sustainable ecotourism destination. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, gathering data through interviews, focus group discussions, and direct observations to evaluate the development of content for the information center. Findings indicate that strengthening educational content, such as infographics, photos and interactive exhibits, effectively raises visitor awareness of elephant conservation and biodiversity. Additionally, the involvement of buffer village communities in tourism activities generates economic benefits and helps preserve local cultural heritage. Therefore, the EEC Information Center plays a strategic role in supporting WKNP's transformation into an educational, conservation-based tourism destination aligned with sustainability principles.
Asmarani Februandari Hermawan Prasetyanto Aditya Yuwana Nawing Copyright (c) 2025 Asmarani Februandari, Hermawan Prasetyanto, Aditya Yuwana Nawing https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 305 329 The Implementation of Total Quality Management Principles through Employee Involvement at Syariah Hotel Solo https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/840
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a comprehensive approach to quality management aimed at involving all components of an organization in the process of continuous improvement. This tourism is a form of nature-based adventure tourism that has great potential in supporting local economic growth and environmental conservation. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilising data collection techniques that include interviews, observations, and documentation. The main focus of the study is the involvement of youth in the management and development of tourism based on four elements: 4A: Attraction, Amenities, Accessibility, and Ancillary (institutions). The results of the study show that youth play a strategic role in the management and development of tourism, both as tour guides, social media promotion managers, environmental activity implementers, and local economic actors. The role of youth is divided into three categories, namely active, participatory, and passive roles. Although challenges such as environmental pollution, limited infrastructure, and lack of community participation are still obstacles, the role of youth has proven to be able to bridge tourism development and community empowerment. In conclusion, youth involvement is a key element in the sustainability and improvement of the quality of Belanting River Tubing tourism.
Sekar Nadya Putri Erna Retna Safitri Ardi Saputra Copyright (c) 2025 Sekar Nadya Putri, Erna Retna Safitri, Ardi Saputra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 344 356 Interest in West Java Mosque Tourist Visits https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/918
This study aims to analyze the influence of attractions, amenities, and accessibility on tourists' interest in visiting mosque tourist destinations in the West Java region, as well as testing the role of electronic word of mouth (E-WOM) moderation in this relationship. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The object of the research is focused on mosques in the West Java region that have the potential for religious tourism. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to people who had visited the mosques. The data analysis techniques used were multiple linear regression and moderation regression. The results showed that the attraction variable had a positive and significant effect on the interest in visiting (p = 0.021), while the amenities (p = 0.602) and accessibility (p = 0.142) variables did not show a significant effect directly. However, E-WOM was shown to be able to moderate the effect of accessibility on visitor interest significantly (p = 0.014), while E-WOM's interaction with attractions and amenities was not significant. Simultaneously, attractions, accessibility, and amenities had a significant effect on tourist interest (p < 0.001) with a determination coefficient value (R²) of 0.623. These findings indicate that although not all variables have an individual effect, the combination of all three simultaneously plays an important role in shaping tourist visitor interest. The role of digital reviews (E-WOM) is only effective as a moderation variable for factors that can be explained informatively. On the other hand, the influence of E-WOM is not significant in moderating the relationship between attractions, amenities, and interest in visiting, because both factors are more subjective and can only be optimally assessed through tourists' direct experiences at the destination.
Anggara Disuma Mohamad Anton Athoillah Encup Supriatna Chaerul Shaleh Copyright (c) 2025 Anggara Disuma, Mohamad Anton Athoillah, Encup Supriatna, Chaerul Shaleh https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 357 367 Mapping the Potential of Marine Tourism and the Hospitality Sector in Southern East Lombok https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/959
This research aims to identify the potential of marine tourism from the hospitality sector in the southern East Lombok region and design its development strategy in a sustainable manner. The methodology used was exploratory-sequential mixed methods. The qualitative stage involved in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and participatory observation, while the quantitative stage collected data on the perceptions of 120 tourists through questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted in an integrated manner, where findings from both approaches were validated through triangulation and then synthesized in a SWOT matrix to formulate strategies. The research results reveal that the main strength of Sade Village lies in the preservation of authentic Sasak culture, including traditional architecture and ikat weaving crafts. However, the community's capacity in tourism management and digital marketing remains a significant weakness. Based on SWOT analysis, four core strategies were formulated: (1) Utilizing cultural strengths for digital promotion and halal tourism (SO); (2) Strengthening community control to mitigate cultural commercialization (ST); (3) Improving community capacity through training (WO); and (4) Developing participatory monitoring mechanisms to reduce economic inequality (WT). These strategies are designed to ensure that tourism contributes to economic prosperity without compromising socio-cultural sustainability.
Muhammad Taufik Bagas Anggara Rizki Sumardani Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Taufik, Bagas Anggara, Rizki Sumardani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 378 392 The Role of Tourism Business Actors in The Mandalika Special Economic Zone in Supporting Sustainable Tourism through Digital Innovation and Hospitality Services https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/942
This study aims to evaluate the role of tourism businesses in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) in supporting sustainable tourism through digital innovation and hospitality services. The Mangga Besar area in West Jakarta is known as one of the centres of nightlife activities, often associated with the existence of covert prostitution practices. Economic factors are the main driving force behind the practice of sex work in Mangga Besar, as individuals seek income to support themselves and sustain their livelihoods in Jakarta. In addition, social factors such as limited education restrict sex workers from participating in the formal sector, while the surrounding environment tacitly supports such sexual practices. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the Mangga Besar area is characterised by a highly permissive social environment. This study aims to examine the dynamics of sex tourism in the Mangga Besar area, the socio-economic factors driving its rapid growth, and its impacts on society, as well as the local government’s inadequate and weak policy responses. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach, employing participatory observation and in-depth interviews with visitors and commercial sex workers. The results indicate that sex tourism practices have developed due to a combination of economic factors such as poverty and unemployment, along with social factors including weak social control, a consumptive lifestyle, and the normalisation of sexual culture in urban environments. Although this phenomenon contributes to the informal economy in the area, it also generates negative impacts such as social issues, value conflicts, and public health risks. This study recommends a more comprehensive and humanistic policy approach, including public education, stronger regulation, and protection for vulnerable groups.

Ilham Sukma Wijaya Budi Setiawan Copyright (c) 2025 Ilham Sukma Wijaya, Budi Setiawan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 452 466 10.36276/mws.v23i2.926 Designing Service Standardization For Small Accommodation Businesses In Greater Bandung As An Effort To Enhance Service Quality https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/914
The majority of small accommodation businesses in Indonesia are small-scale operations that lack standardized service guidelines, in contrast to hotels which are regulated by government-issued standards and supported by international frameworks. This condition leads to inconsistent service quality and unclear service delivery procedures. This study aims to design a service standard framework for small accommodation businesses, particularly in Greater Bandung. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving field observations and structured interviews with five small accommodation businesses. The design process was guided by the SERVQUAL framework (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy) and adapted from existing regulatory and international standards, including the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Regulation No. 4 of 2021, ISO 22483:2020, and Scotland’s small serviced accommodation quality assurance’s minimum requirement. The findings reveal that service delivery practices among small accommodation businesses are highly inconsistent and depend heavily on individual owner’s background and management style. Based on these findings, a practical and context-adjusted service standard and its implementation strategies were proposed to serve as a reference for improving service quality in small accommodation businesses. The resulting design aims to enhance operational consistency, support service credibility, and align service delivery with guest expectations, contributing to a better overall guest experience.
Rully Kemal Aziz Rahmat Priyanto Copyright (c) 2025 Rully Kemal Aziz, Rahmat Priyanto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-15 2025-11-15 23 2 467 478 10.36276/mws.v23i2.914 Optimalisasi Peran Front Desk Agent dalam Strategi Upselling Produk Food and Beverage di Silkroad Dinner Buffet Hotel Ciputra Jakarta https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/929
The hotel industry continues to grow rapidly in line with the increasing needs of tourists for accommodation and services, including the rising demand for food & beverage products. The limitation of this study lies in the scope of variables which only includes infrastructure, atmosphere and cultural environment, so the results cannot be generalized with other factors that might influence place identity.
Dame Afrina Sihombing Sam Eddy Wijaya Oda Ignatius Besar Hariyanto Copyright (c) 2025 Dame Afrina Sihombing, Sam Eddy Wijaya, Oda Ignatius Besar Hariyanto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-18 2025-11-18 23 2 527 544 10.36276/mws.v23i2.923 The Relationship Between Knowledge, Awareness of Consequences, and Tourist Attitudes Toward Plastic Waste Disposal Behaviours at Natural Tourist Destinations https://jurnal.ampta.ac.id/index.php/MWS/article/view/956
Currently, tourism activities in Indonesia are increasingly being directed towards sustainable tourism. Many programs have been designed by the government and destination owners to support this initiative, such as movements to reduce plastic waste at destinations or events. However, these programs have not been well supported by tourists. Findings from the field and previous research show that many tourists still dispose of their plastic waste carelessly. The aim of this study is to identify the level of knowledge, the response to the consequences of plastic waste disposal, attitudes, and behaviour’s of tourists regarding plastic waste disposal. Additionally, this research is expected to contribute recommendations to the government and other stakeholders to create programs that prevent tourists from disposing of or generating plastic waste in order to achieve the SDGs 2030 goal of "Sustainable Tourism." The method used is quantitative with descriptive and verificative analysis. The findings of this study reveal a gap between attitudes and behaviour's regarding plastic waste disposal at natural tourist destinations. Visitors in this study, who are predominantly young, have good knowledge, awareness, and attitudes toward the behaviour of disposing of plastic waste at natural tourist destinations, but they do not practice these behaviours’. This study suggests that in order to create more significant change, a comprehensive education strategy is necessary, such as outreach, informational campaigns, and participation in environmental cleanliness activities. The use of digital technology, such as mobile apps, can also strengthen awareness and motivate more responsible behaviour. Furthermore, strengthening social norms through community campaigns and cross-sector collaboration between the government, tourism managers, and local communities is key to creating an environment that supports sustainability.
Yosef Abdul Ghani Faizal Hamzah Lufi Luthfiah Annisa Dwi Iffahmi Copyright (c) 2025 Yosef Abdul Ghani, Faizal Hamzah, Lufi Luthfiah, Annisa Dwi Iffahmi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2025-11-18 2025-11-18 23 2 545 560 10.36276/mws.v23i2.956
